QUACKERS - (Geoff Barrow) - 2012

MAYBE  THE BEST HIP HOP IN YEARS...(allnighterkid). Working on a wide range of projects, as well as the new Portishead album, Geoff Barrow has just released a hip-hop record. A hugely ambitious hip hop project, based around the trio of Barrow, Katalyst and 7-Stu-7 and featuring dozens of rappers both known and unknown, their debut album Quakers saw the light of day last month. Consisting of 41 tracks - many of which are short and intensely focused - it unfolds in the swift manner of a mixtape, and features guest appearances from legends like Dead Prez and The Pharcyce's Booty Brown, as well as a host of previously unknown MCs. Released on the hugely influential West Coast label Stones Throw. Fat, Classic, Conscious. Must Hear

Peaking Lights - 936 - (2011)

One of the best album of the year. The past few years have been a boon for Not Not Fun, with major minor successes like Ducktails and Sun Araw undoubtedly exposing the label beyond its base. A drum machine, and the dub connotations it carries, makes all the difference for 936. Each track has the uncanny ability to drift with Indra Dunis’ lazy, ethereal vocals, yet they still feel tight, despite the long playing times. neo-psychedelic, dub, noise pop

Dump - That Skinny Motherfucker with the High Voice? (1998)

Whereas Sonic Youth was inspired by  Madonna , here Yo La Tengo’s James McNew lovingly runs through a selection of Prince songs.  The individual tracks range from the acoustically strummed to churning electric guitar backed by distorted ambiance with programmed laptop beats. Originally released in 1998 on cassette, the collection later saw a compact disc release in 2001 with five additional tracks.
Better than originals.

Public Dims - Vent Somewhere Else

Lo-fi twanger two-piece from southern California. Their lazy monotone vocals and lethargic instrumentation give them some singularity in a relatively crowded sub-genre. free download http://publicdims.bandcamp.com/

Apache Dropout - s/t LP

Apache Dropout is a full on lysergic boogie trio from Southern Indiana who’ve self-released a handful of recordings while touring the sub-U.S. during the past couple years. Finally, their debut LP is here to catch you up with their three-minute-&-less anthems crafted of ‘60s epoch fuzz.

Pow Wows - Nightmare Soda

Jessie Mae Hemphill - She-Wolf

one of favourites Sonic Boom Peter Kember album

notes: This compact disc reissue gathers up all the original tracks from Jessie Mae's 1980 debut album for the French Vogue label along with
four remixed bonus tracks, all seeing their first domestic release. Recorded by folklorist Dr. David Evans (who also contributes second guitar on 13 of the 15 tracks here) in various locales around Memphis and Mississippi, the music stays down-home and primal throughout. There's a strong sense of rhythm that permeates this record, whether it comes from the fife and drum-derived percussion work of Calvin Jackson and Joe Hicks or simply Jessie Mae's own foot-operated tambourine driving the beat home. Highlights include "Jessie's Boogie" and "Standing In My Doorway Crying" (both sides of her first 45 single, underwritten by the National Endowment for the Arts), "Honey Bee," "Boogie Side of the Road," "Crawdad Hole," "Lovin' In the Moonlight," "Married Man Blues" and the title track. The blues, real and raw

Buffalo Springfield Box Set - 2001

Amazing, 10 years ago this box set gave me a new perspective to listen to music. A retrospective of the late 60s folk rock band of the same name, released in 2001, is perfectly built to understand the complex richness of an underrated production during 5 years. Chorus, orchestras, acoustics, eletrics. Few simple things wonderful results. Don't miss it.

Eric's Trip - Forever Again (1994)

Sometimes i fall in the Eric's trip trip. If you like it in the past post there is another Eric's trip lp. Eric's Trip formed in 1990 when musicians Rick White and Chris Thompson of The Forest joined Julie Doiron and Ed Vaughan (who was later replaced by Mark Gaudet of Purple Knight). They took their name from a Sonic Youth song[2] and emulated the distorted guitar of Dinosaur Jr., the folk leanings of Neil Young, and the lo-fi aesthetic of Sebadoh. Rick White described their sound as "sappy melodic pop music on top of thick distortion." Gaudet's description was more succinct: "dreamy punk". FROM WIKI

The Great Unwashed- Collection (Flying Nun - The Clean)

In the wake of the 1982 breakup of the legendary Clean, brothers David and Hamish Kilgour continued writing songs together; adopting the tongue-in-cheek name Great Unwashed, they released the 1983 LP Clean Out of Our Minds, a collection of primitive home recordings with a slightly experimental bent. The record was well received by steadfast Clean fans, and with bassist Peter Gutteridge in tow, the Kilgour brothers played a handful of live dates. A five-track double single subsequently appeared, and in mid-1984 the Great Unwashed swelled to a quartet with the addition of Ross Humphries; however, by the end of the year, the group disbanded.
